I get to meet new people and live in a constant existence of learning and teaching.

How did you first find out about NCECA?
As an Undergraduate at the Kansas City Art Institute
Tell me a story about your first conference (including city and/or year)
I went the Tampa NCECA and the first lecture I went to was Pete Pinnell’s History of the Cup. I was hooked ever since.
What’s your favourite color?
Blue
What or who inspired you to get involved more deeply in the organization, and what was your “entry point” to the board
I see a deep need to represent People of Color in ceramics and on the NCECA board. I hope that my experience can add to the discourse of the Board of Directors.
Describe your position with NCECA
I am the Director at Large who coordinates Topical Discussions and NCECA connections.
What’s your favourite thing about being on the board?
I love being able to learn from the 100 years of experience that exist and to develop an understanding of what it takes to put together the experience that we all have come to love.
What’s your favorite part of your specific position?
I love hearing ideas on what has been missing and how artist hope to fill in those needs.
Who are some of your mentors, and how have they shaped you as a person/artist? (both in and out of the organization/field)
My mentors are my former Professors. Every one of them have played a role in where I am. Shannon Goff and Tom Laureman are a model of who I wish to be as an educator and Artist. A rare combination of criticism, support, and generosity.
