The National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition Foundation, Inc. was originally created in support of quality K-12 ceramic education in the United States, by organizing resources to ensure the long-term survival of The Annual National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition.
The exhibition is a juried ceramic competition for Kindergarten through Grade 12 (K-12) students in the United States designed to showcase the best K-12 ceramic work made annually. The exhibition takes place in conjunction with the annual conference of The National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) who generously support the show every year. The juror of The National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition this year is Kathy King who reviewed 1,409 entries and her decisions are final. After winning students are selected, their work is shipped to Rhode Island Convention Center. A beautiful poster and catalog are produced each year with the names and pictures of the work of the winning students. Graduating 12th graders accepted into the exhibition may apply for consideration of foundation scholarship awards. This year we are celebrating 4 new scholarship from KCAI, each totaling more than $80,000.
Three simple goals frame The Foundation today:
- Support The National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition at the highest level possible
- Support teachers of ceramics who are looking for assistance
- Raise money to provide scholarships for students wishing to study ceramics
