As I sit in room 553, eating my first actual lunch this week and waiting for the open board meeting to begin, I am reflecting on the events of this last week, as many of you are. I’m also enjoying/lamenting the snow falling outside. Saying goodbye to the NCECA is always bittersweet. I look forward to sleeping on the plane. But the “let-down” feeling from seeing a full year of hard work come to an abrupt end is rough. I am excited to see and hug my family back home, but I am sad to leave my NCECA family behind.
As you return back to your regular non-conference life, (complete with sleep and stuff), I’d like to remind you to keep your eye on the blog for lots of year-round information.
One of the first things will be as much conference content as I can get online as quickly as possible.
You can help me figure out what to get up first by marking your attendance in the app on your device or on the web version of the app. I’d also encourage you to scroll down and take the short survey on each session you attended and also the general app survey on page 2. If you
NCECA will once again be preparing a full conference survey to get your feedback so that we can continue to improve each year!
Watch for that coming soon to your email, on Facebook, on the blog and so on.
I’d also invite you to start thinking now about exhibitions and programming in Kansas City. Programming proposals are due May 13th! If there’s something you want to see at the conference, propose it! For Kansas City area venues that wish to go through our new “Venue Originated Exhibition Proposals” process, those applications are due June 1.
Lastly, I’d like to ask for your help. I think the viewership of this blog has tripled in the last year, more people than ever are reading articles here and I think/hope that this has resulted in more informed conference experiences for attendees. I would LOVE more content here shared from our members. If you have an interest in writing for the blog, please let me know! And also continue to let me know if you have questions about NCECA things. I plan to continue this weekly column sharing bits of information that you may not know. Let me know what perplexes you!
So, it was said that the city chosen for 2017 would be announced at this year’s conference, but all I’ve heard were perplexed whispers of “Maybe Denver? Maybe Portland?”
Has the city for year after next been announced yet? If so, where will we be? If not, when will the announcement be made?
Thanks!
Wow! I can’t believe how brain-fried I must have been when I wrote this entry to not mention this!!! I did post it on the Facebook page, but forgot to include it in this blog post! Two pieces of info, in fact –
1. The attendance at the Providence Conference was 4823.
2. The 2017 Conference will be in Portland Oregon! But first, we’ll see you next year in Kansas City, of course!
Portland is correct!
