Hello from Houston! As the 2013 NCECA Conference in Houston, Texas approaches we are gearing up for many exciting events including exhibitions, conference programming, pre and post conference workshops, and more. Each month we plan to send out information about conference events and insider information about what to see and where to go in Houston to help you plan your trip.
This year’s conference has an amazing line-up of presenters. The preliminary conference program will be continually updated as we finalize agreements and identify presenters and facilitators for various conference features including Projects Space, K-12, Topical Discussions, NCECA Connections and a new Process Room.
One of our favorite things about Houston is its commitment to supporting the arts. This commitment is seen through the large number of public artworks located in the Houston area. The Municipal Art Collection, University of Houston Public Art Collection, and Rice Public Art Collection include works by Stephen De Staebler, Linda Howard, Henry Moore, Jesus Bautista Moroles, Jaume Plensa, Aurora Robson, James Surl, James Turrell, and others. These three amazing collections of public art can be found at the following links. The websites include more information about artists, locations, and maps for self-guided tours.
