With a friendship forged from clay, wood, and fire, Ching Yuan Chang, Joy Brown, and Ken Bichell will bring the best of woodfire workshops to the Adamah Clay Studios of Bethel Horizons.
This “Blockbuster” workshop takes place March 12-18, 2014 at the Adamah Clay Studios campus near Dodgeville, WI. Just 3 three hours ride from Milwaukee and NCECEA’s 2014 debut in Milwaukee, March 19-22.
Workshop Highlights:
1. Creation of a collaborative clay mural
2. Participants can bring 2 to 3 pieces of bisque-ware, which will be fired in the kiln during the workshop
3. Wisconsin Woodfire Potters Reception – Pottery, Cheese, Wine, and Beer, Wisconsin style

Arts/Industry Tour
Tour the artists’ studios in the Kohler Co. factory, view a selection of work from the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s 1973 exhibitionThe Plastic Earth in the Kohler Co. Design Center, and see the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s 40-year retrospective exhibition of the Arts/Industry residency program, ARTS/INDUSTRY: Collaboration and Revelation, which features more than 300 works installed throughout eleven galleries. This special tour will include a light breakfast and a boxed lunch. NOTE: This tour involves a walking tour of the Kohler Co. factory. CLOSE-TOED SHOES ARE REQUIRED; cameras and cell phones are not permitted on the factory floor. The factory is not an accessible facility.
Works of art by more than 200 artists will be featured, including Ann Agee, Mary Jo Bole, Phoebe Cummings, Jack Earl, Ron Fondaw, Molly Hatch, Giselle Hicks, Deborah Horrell, George Mason, Melissa McGill, Lesley McTague, Myra Mimlitsch-Gray, Jim Neel, Denise Pelletier, Tom Spleth, Tetsuya Yamada, and Arnie Zimmerman. The exhibition in the Kohler Co. Design Center features contemporary ceramics from the early 1970s by 16 then-emerging and established artists including Robert Arneson, Rudy Autio, Ralph Bacerra, Richard DeVore, Karen Massaro, Michele Oka Doner, Peter Voulkos, and Patti Warashina.
