Break out the Champagne!
NCECA, is returning to Kansas City for an unprecedented FOURTH TIME to celebrate its 50th annual Conference: Makers, Mentors, and Milestones. Previous conferences were held in Kansas City in 1969, 1989, and 2002. No other city has hosted 4 NCECA Conferences. The reasons are obviousl: with world-class museums, architecture and “farm to table” cuisine the Kansas City region has a strong legacy and a passionate support for the Arts. This devotion has established a nexus for the ceramic arts and has sustained innovative and influential progenitors within the field. Kansas City will be the perfect host as out organization gathers to reflect on NCECA’s past, including the by influential movements & figures that have shaped our field while also envisioning what lies ahead. The Conference will take place in the Kansas City Convention Center from March 16th through the 19th in 2016. NCECA’s Invitationa Exhibition and National Student Juried Exhibtion will be held at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Leedy Voulkos Art Center, respectively. Other museums such as Johnson County Community College’s Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Johnson County, and local galleries from the region such as the Belger Art Center & Sherry Leedy Gallery in Kansas City, Mo and the Lawrence Art Center in Lawrence, Kansas will all be participating in the conference with fantastic exhibition programming.
